Professor Carl Massaro

Carl Massaro has been training in the martial arts since 1992. He holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do and freestyle martial arts. Carl is currently a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu directly under Renzo Gracie. Carl has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1997 and is undefeated in Shootfighting and Mixed Martial Arts competition, where he holds a 7-0 and 3-0 record, respectively. He is also an experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling competitor and has also won several titles in gi and no-gi tournaments.

Carl is currently a training partner for UFC Welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, and has travelled extensively to Montreal as a part of St-Pierre’s fight camps. He has also been a training partner for current UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, as well as several professional MMA fighters from many organizations, including the UFC, Stikeforce, and Bellator. For many years, Carl was also personal training partner for his intructor, Renzo Gracie, during Renzo’s fight career in Pride and other Japanese and US organizations.

Carl has trained with and studied under some of the best in the world, including John Danaher, Ricardo Almeida, Rodrigo Gracie, Matt & Nick Serra, and Shawn Williams. He has coached and cornered many MMA fighters and is a licensed MMA corner man in several states.

Carl has taught at the prestigious Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC, which is one of the largest martial arts school in the world. He is the only 2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in the northern Bergen county, NJ; and Rockland county, NY area that has trained directly under, and received his black belt from Renzo Gracie.
